Successful Outcome for Clients in Jury Trial Over Corporate Partnership Dispute
Burkhalter Law is pleased to announce a successful jury verdict obtained in favor of our engineering firm clients, after a four-day jury trial in a Georgia state court. The trial involved disputes stemming from a corporate partnership split where the founding partner of the firm left to start a competing business using company funds, employees, and assets.
Pending since April 2020, the trial was vigorously contested with both sides pursuing competing claims. After hearing arguments and testimony and reviewing the evidence at trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of our clients claims. They awarded both general damages and an additional amount as punitive damages against the former partner who left the company – a first for a partnership dispute. After a long, difficult journey to obtain a resolution, another satisfying moment for our clients was when the defendant apologized on the stand to his former partners for his actions leading to the litigation.
Congratulations to attorneys Patrick Ewing and Melissa Ewing of our firm for their hard work in presenting our clients’ case at trial and obtaining such a successful outcome.
